Luna Park 2008 Chalk Festival

Peter Burnett Academy and Lincoln High School

 

 

On Saturday October 4, 2008, students from Burnett Academy and Lincoln High School participated in the Luna Park 2008 Chalk Art Festival at Backesto Park.  May Ngo, Suleyma Ortiz, Adriana Jimenez, Yen Tran, Carrissa Cargajal, Ashley Cameron and Jessica Sreewilal produced a fabulous piece of art that was admired by

many and was commented by some as being the best piece at the show.  The chalk masterpiece was designed through a collaboration of all students ideas.  The student team was lead by local artist and educator Katrina Loera.  The net proceeds of the event benefit arts education in the neighborhood schools.

The Luna Park Business Association, based in the Northside neighborhood along 13th Street, is named after the historic amusement park once located in this former Italian enclave.  Dedicated to encouraging neighborhood, commercial, and cultural activities, promoting a positive idenity for the area while preserving its historical significance to the community
